✨Trend Tuesday: AI Isn’t Broken - You’re Just Using It Wrong ✨

The way people deploy AI comes down to two mindsets. One is the lazy route, where they use the model to do the work while they lean back. The other is the ambitious path, where they wield AI to extend their expertise, uncover fresh approaches, and reach heights that felt out of range just a year ago. 🚀
Think of this second approach through the lens of The Cat with Boots (Der Gestiefelte Kater). In the fairy tale, the miller’s youngest son is left with nothing but a seemingly useless cat. Desperate, he considers turning its fur into gloves - until the cat requests a pair of boots. Odd demand, yet the son obliges. Once laced into those boots, the cat strides with agency, earns credibility, and orchestrates a transformation that lifts his master from poverty to the throne. 👢🐱
There’s a lesson. Gartner’s Hype Cycle shows AI in the Trough of Disillusionment. Budgets rise, but productivity gains feel elusive. Abandon ship? That would be equivalent to skinning the cat for gloves: a short-sighted move.
Instead, leaders need to hand AI its “boots.” In real-life Swiss use cases, those boots are robust data pipelines, sensible guardrails, and human oversight. With them in place, AI is spotting critical events in real time, handling routine client calls through natural voice bots around the clock, and drafting bespoke proposals using an enterprise’s own pricing and product knowledge.
None of that is theatre; each example is core operations quietly compounding value. 🛠️
Of course, a model isn’t a talking cat. The boots work only when leaders treat the challenge as organisational (rather than technical); when they are willing to redesign workflows (with human-in-the-loop safety nets); and when they align incentives so cross-functional teams own outcomes (not vanity metrics).
Give the cat its “boots”, and see how quickly an “unwanted” cost centre turns into a crown-winning growth engine. 👑
